TANIA INGRAM

Tania Ingram is an award winning author who writes books for children, including the magical Jinny and Cooper Series, the bestselling Aggie Flea books and the heartfelt mid-grade novel, The Other Shadow.

She has acted as a peer assessor on the literature panel for Arts South Australia’s grants program and is an active ambassador for the Premier’s Reading Challenge. 

When not writing, Tania enjoys sharing her knowledge and love of books through school visits, workshops and festivals. In her spare time Tania likes to read children’s fiction, crochet crooked rugs and sing to her chickens, who pretend to be oblivious to her talent.

Years R-2

What if the best story ideas are hiding in everyday life? In this fun, interactive author talk, Tania reveals how real experiences inspired her award-winning books and guides students to uncover story ideas from their own world. Includes readings of picture books and discussion of chapter books.

Years 3-4

In this author talk, Tania challenges students to guess whether she is telling the truth or a story as she shares how real-life moments sparked ideas for her award-winning books. Students are encouraged to explore how events from their own lives can become stories. The session wraps up with an engaging story-starter activity to get imaginations flowing.

Years 5-8

What if your best story idea came from something that really happened to you? In this author talk, award-winning author Tania Ingram shares how everyday moments inspired her books and gives students a behind the scenes look at her writing process. She explains the difference between planners and pansters and talks honestly about how being a panster can be exciting but also tricky at times. The session finishes with a short question time where students are free to pick Tania’s brain about writing and life as an author.
